Ventus Land purchase Lower Seater Farm, Wick
About Ventus Land Limited
Ventus Land Limited (VLL) is a Scottish company that was established by a group of private individuals who believe that the development of renewable energy, including our wind resources, is critical to Scotland’s future.
VVL’s objectives are to contribute to Scotland’s renewable energy goals through the development of our onshore wind resources in compliance with environmental standards. We believe that onshore wind developments will not only reduce Scotland’s carbon footprint but will contribute to the country’s economic development and provide local people and companies with work and inward investment.
VLL has at the core of its business model a goal to identify and develop sites in a manner that maximise the potential of the land in a manner appropriate to the local environment and community by not only installing small to medium scale wind turbine developments but also by identifying sites that have multiple or alternative uses that are in addition to wind power.
Purchase of Lower Seater Farm
VLL are pleased to announce the purchase of Lower Seater Farm, by Wick in Caithness. Lower Seater is some 200 acres of rough grazing and moorland with a number of buildings on the site that surround a land-fill site that serves the local community.
Development at Lower Seater Farm
VVL’s vision is to develop the farm in a sympathetic way, making use of the existing vacant buildings and allowing the continued use of the farm land as far as possible. Although no proposals have yet been submitted, VVL will look to complete a small to medium scale wind development on Lower Seater Farm.
With this objective in mind, as a matter of collecting some basic data, in August 2011 we submitted a planning application for the erection of a wind data mast. The primary need for this data is to determine the wind resource and the class of turbine that might be suitable at Lower Seater Farm.
Currently we are engaged in discussions with all key stakeholders to ascertain the most beneficial means of progressing the development. As part of these stakeholder discussions, we would welcome comments from the wider community to allow VVL to take those views into account.
